Sisters of Providence of Holyoke : ウィキペディア英語版 | Sisters of Providence of Holyoke
The Sisters of Providence of Holyoke, Massachusetts, are a congregation of Roman Catholic religious sisters founded in 1892. ==History== In November 1873, four Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul from Kingston, Ontario, went to Holyoke to care for the sick poor. Seventeen years later, the bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield in Massachusetts petitioned Rome to create a separate congregation of the Sisters of Providence based in Holyoke. This new congregation was incorporated on December 17, 1892. Their first superior was Mother Mary of Providence. The congregation is also a member of the Women of Providence in Collaboration. The sisters sponsor a number of health care institutions, under the umbrella of the Sisters of Providence Health System, 〔http://www.mercycares.com/pages.asp?id=8〕 an affiliate of Catholic Health East.〔http://www.che.org/regional/map.php〕 These include Mercy Medical Center, Providence Behavioral Health Hospital, Weldon Rehabilitation Hospital, and Brightside for Families and Children, as well as a diagnostic lab, nursing homes, and home care throughout the region.〔
